Before most people walk into a shop, call a clinic or visit a restaurant, they search. “Hardware shop near me.” “Best coaching in Jagdalpur.” “Solar installation in Bastar.” If your business does not show up in those moments, the customer does not know you exist, and they go to whoever does show up.
Why good businesses stay invisible
- No Google Business Profile, or an unclaimed one. Many businesses have a listing created automatically that nobody manages.
- Wrong or incomplete details. An old phone number, missing hours or a wrong map pin sends customers elsewhere.
- No photos. People trust what they can see.
- Few or no reviews. Reviews are one of the first things customers check.
- Inconsistent details. Different names, addresses or numbers across Google, Facebook, directories and your website confuse both customers and Google.
Five fixes you can make this week
- Claim and verify your Google Business Profile. It is free, and it is the single most important step for local visibility.
- Fill in every field. Category, hours, phone, WhatsApp, services, products and the area you serve.
- Add real photos. Your shopfront so people recognise it, the inside, your products and your team. Add new ones every month.
- Ask happy customers for reviews. A short WhatsApp message with your review link works well. Reply to every review, good or bad.
- Keep your details identical everywhere. Same business name, address and phone number on every platform.
What not to do
Do not buy fake reviews or stuff keywords into your business name. Google can suspend profiles for this, and customers can usually tell.
Getting found is only step one
Once people can find you, the next question is whether they contact you, and what happens after they do. But nothing else works until customers can find you in the first place.
